Despite its purchase by WWE back in 2001, WCW will always be “Where The Big Boys Play” to us, and those “Big Boys” are now on YouTube.
WWE announced recently that there is a new WCW-centric page on YouTube. They have full episodes of WCW Monday Nitro, and WCW Thunder for example, but they have not uploaded the full catalogue to this point.
They’ve already uploaded the first two Nitros and Thunders with the August 13, 1998 Thunder set to premiere soon.
There are also Clash of the Champion full events as well, but as of the time of this post only I and III are available.
Full matches such as the iconic Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs “Nature Boy” Ric Flair I at Chi-Town Rumble 1989 are available. I revisited that match recently, and it is incredible as are the other two from their 89 trilogy.
If you’re a lapsed fan or just do not care enough about modern wrestling to subscribe to Peacock for WWE’s archives, this is an excellent opportunity to watch some classic WCW wrestling.
I know some will largely prefer this type of content to remain on an actual streaming service such as Netflix or Peacock or even a standalone one like WWE Network (may it RIP), but for fans of classic wrestling this seems to be the direction WWE is going with their “old school” offerings and I will take it. As a current Peacock subscriber this doesn’t do much for me right now, but I’m with everyone else assuming most of the classic stuff won’t be going to the next streaming solution so this is nice for down the road.
I have already hit Subscribe, and suggest you do as well so we can all enjoy that WCW action we loved as they continue to upload more.
