26-Year-Old “Lionheart” Chris Jericho takes on 30-Year-Old Eddie Guerrero in an amazing technical match to open up WCW Fall Brawl 1997. Jericho was in the middle of his 2nd reign as the WCW Cruiserweight Champion while Guerrero had started the year off as the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion, a title he ended up losing to Dean Malenko months prior to Fall Brawl. However during his match with Malenko at WCW Uncensored, Eddie suffered a torn pectoral muscle and was forced to take time off from professional wrestling.

It was after his 3-month stint away from WCW where Eddie Guerrero began to focus on competing in the WCW Cruiserweight division as he watched his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr. perform on these undercard matches. Once Eddie got healthy, he began his new heel-run paired with Chavo Jr., and eventually would be placed against the likes of Rey Mysterio Jr. and Chris Jericho.

Spot of the Match: The entire sequence that starts with a Gory Special and eventually ends with a Electric Chair Facebuster that pops the crowd. (12:10)
